Parking Information

Where to Park

Students may park in all assigned student parking lots on the campus. Parking Lot 7, the largest lot, offers easy entrance and exit routes. Please make sure that you are not parking in designated staff parking areas as citations will be issued even during the first week of the new semester. There is no grace period.

Parking Permits

All parking is by valid parking permits, which may be purchased at the Pierce Business Office, or paid parking day pass machine in all parking lots. A valid parking permit must be displayed at all times the vehicle is parked in a college parking lot throughout the semester. Permit hangers should be hung so that the colored side faces the windshield. The purchase of a parking permit allows for use of the College parking lots but does not guarantee a parking space. We recommend that you arrive early to allow time to secure a spot and walk to class, especially the first two weeks of classes when parking is more congested than usual. It takes approximately 10 minutes to walk from the lots to the center of the campus.

Parking Fees

  • ASO Preferred ($27): Allows you to park in all lots.
  • Restricted ($20): Allows you to park in Lot 4, on El Rancho Drive and in dirt overflow lots on the campus.
  • Daily Metered Permit ($3): Permits are valid for all lots on the day of purchase only.
  • 30 min. parking ($1)

Motorcycle & Moped Parking

Motorcycles and mopeds are not required to display a parking permit but MUST park in the designated motorcycle parking spaces. Any motorcycle or moped parked in a parking stall designated for automobiles or parked in any other area not designated for motorcycle or moped parking may be cited and/or impounded.

Disabled Parking

There are designated disabled parking stalls in each of the student parking lots. Vehicles parked in these stalls must display a valid disabled permit. Disabled students must follow all Student Parking Policies as described herein and are subject to citation for any violation of the parking regulations.

Overnight & Long-Term Parking

Overnight parking is not allowed between midnight and 6:00 a.m. (violaters will be cited) unless express consent is granted by the College Sheriff's Office. Vehicles parked on campus or in parking lots in excess of 72 hours may be considered abandoned and may be subject to impound (22651 (k) CVC).

Weekend & Holiday Parking

Parking regulations are not enforced on weekends and holidays.

Visitor & Community Service Student Parking

Visitors and Community Service students must display their permits clearly in the front window. Authorized visitors may obtain a temporary (one-day) parking pass from the College Sheriff's office.

Street Parking

Please be considerate of the College's neighbors when parking on the street. Keep the noise level low and refrain from littering. Street parking around the perimeter of the campus is limited. Read the signs carefully to avoid a citation.

Parking Regulations

The Board of Trustees of the Los Angeles Community College District has authorized parking fees for Pierce College.

Pierce College and the Los Angeles Community College District assume no responsibility for damage to any motor vehicle, theft of its contents, or injury to persons operating a vehicle, or parked on or off the campus unless liable under Government Codes, including, but not limited to Government Codes 81O to 966.6 inclusive.

In accordance with California Vehicle Code 21113A and California Education Code 72247, parking regulations will be enforced on the campus. Violators will be cited by the College Sheriff which is not authorized to grant any privileges deviating from the rules.

Restricted Zones

Red curbs, yellow curbs, and fire hydrant violations are enforced by the College Sheriff's Office, as would be the case in your home community.

Parking Payment Plan Terms & Conditions

For Parking Payment Plan Terms & Conditions guidelines and application, download the Parking Payment Plan Terms & Conditions document, available as a Mircosoft Word document.

Contesting Parking Citations

Parking citations may be contested by completing a Parking Citation Administrative Review form online. The form must be filled out completely and filed with the Sheriffs office within twenty-one (21) days of the issuance date of the citation. Incomplete or incorrect forms will not be considered for review. Please be specific in explaining why the citation should be dismissed. The finding of the review will be mailed back to the contesting party.

If you do not agree with the findings of the review, you have the right to request an Administrative Hearing. You have 15 days from the date of the administrative review to commence this procedure. You must post the bail amount (fine) of the original citation, by check or money order, at the College Business Office. Deliver a copy of the bail receipt to the College Personnel Office and obtain and complete a Request for Administrative Hearing form. You will be notified by mail when a hearing date is set.

Parking Fee Payments & Refunds

Enrollment and Tuition Fees must be paid before a student parking permit may be purchased. Student parking fees are refundable each semester through the enrollment refund period. (See the current semester's schedule of classes for the exact date). The parking permit must be returned at the time the refund is requested. No refunds are allowed on day permits. (In the event of a machine malfunction, please contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office on campus).

Commuting Alternatives/Transportation

Beat the hassles of driving by riding METRO to school. The Metro Orange Line and several Metro bus lines stop near the campus. Discounts for Metro are available for full-time students. For more information, call 1 (323)GO METRO, visit the Metro website at metro.net, visit the Metrolink website at metrolinktrains.com, or stop by the College Business Office.

For a map of Metro routes serving LAPC, go to the Pierce College Metro Map, available as a downloadable Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format (PDF) file.

Security

Like most urban campuses, thieves are attracted to parked vehicles. So, be sure to lock doors when you leave the car. Be careful not to leave tempting objects like purses, backpacks, radios, etc., in visible places in your car (e.g., on the seat).

Future Construction

Off-campus parking is not unusual for a college located in a major city. However, thanks to funding provided through Propositions A and AA, construction of additional on-campus student parking is underway.
